Grants and Grantees
Project Redwood funds projects annually. Since our first grants were made in 2007, we have supported 93 projects conducted by 38 grantees throughout the world. Each year, we typically fund 5 to 10 non-profit programs, from about half of the qualified applications that we review.
Project Redwood Grant Portfolio – Project Redwood helps eradicate extreme poverty by providing grants and non-financial support to projects of non-profits making a significant impact benefiting sizable populations (i.e. 100+ people). We build human capital to reduce extreme poverty and develop direct conditions to increase income of individuals and communities including education, training, job creation, and micro-enterprise. Projects that focus on health, nutrition, water, medical treatment, and housing will be considered if they directly impact income for those in extreme poverty. Synergy with other projects or organizations is encouraged. Note that our grant making criteria changed substantially in 2016.
Grant Application and Review Process – Project Redwood invites prospective Grantees to explore our program. Applicants that meet our qualifying criteria work with a sponsoring Partner who will guide them through a structured grant application and review process that takes place every spring. This process actively engages a substantial number of Project Redwood Partners who help ensure that we thoughtfully consider every project that is presented to us. Projects approved for funding continue to receive support and advice from Partners over the life of the grant.
