International Village Clinic

Indian children In a world riven
by inequality, medicine
could be viewed
as social justice work.
- Paul Farmer

IVC's mission is to bring health care, education and economic uplift services to the poor, rural villages of Eastern India. Founded in 2002, IVC has used a dual approach of prevention and treatment to meet the medical needs of communities near Marfpur, India. Teams of IVC-trained field workers go into the villages to provide prevention services and educational materials while doctors and technicians provide medical treatment in a health center facility in Marfpur.

International Village Clinic's grant will fund the expansion into 60 villages, from the current 36, of their program of preventative care and education for children and expectant mothers. The program includes prenatal care, nutritional supplements, vaccinations, health education and family planning. The grant will also be used to design and develop a targeted "Fundraising for Sustainability" methodology.
