Compatible Technology water committee meeting We are not cisterns made for hoarding;
we are channels made for sharing.

Compatible Technology International (CTI) has a long record of helping poor rural communities around the globe with extremely affordable technologies. CTI volunteers invent, develop, manufacture and distribute (a) post-harvest technologies that help people feed themselves with greater productivity and nutrition, and (b) water treatment systems that dramatically reduce drinking water contamination. The CTI-8 Chlorinator is a low-cost, low-maintenance, non-electrical unit that attaches to the water entry point of any rural community’s water tank which is fed by gravity from uphill sources.

CTI’s 2010-11 grant from Project Redwood was used to install CTI-8 water chlorinators in rural Nicaragua where drinking water contamination is endemic and where nearly half of its population lives. With a 2011-12 PRW grant, the number of water chlorinators will increase from 60 to 155 units serving over 95,000 people.
